Loved it! Although I don't quite understand why her father had to move... I think I've been out of history class for too long. It was just because he no longer believed the Church of England... right? but I don't remember all the different sects of religion and when they came about... so if you have any insights please enlighten me.
I thought the ending not quite satisfactory, so I watched the last episode on netflix. I felt much better after that.
One thing that i really liked was that by the end of the book she had recognized how ignorant she was in the beginning. I think we all go through that... thinking we know everything only to find out we only have one view of a box. Once the box is turned we see how wrong we were.
I liked that they were constantly misinterpreting/misunderstanding each other; always assuming the worst intentions. I think that most people mean well and that it is your own interpretation that makes it(whatever said or done) offensive.
I liked the book but i know some of it would have been confusing if ihadnt already watched the netflix series of it. I think it is so interesting how pride gets in the way of real comunication. ? The characters were very believeable in their struggles and how their experiences as well as family made them who they were. I really admired mr. Thortons ending relationship with his workers. He wasnt afraid to try a new approach to a problem.
Good job finishing ladies! I am not finished yet. Good news, I got glasses...{sigh}... so reading should be a bit more enjoyable now that I can see. :)
Out of 5 stars how many would you give the book?
Would you recommend this book to a friend?
Would you read it again?
Could you see parts of yourself in any of the characters?
4.5 stars Definitely recommend Yes, I think I will read it again Yes and No. I'm not very good with confrontation. I think if I was her I would have just kept my mouth shut and let Mr. Thorton think whatever he like rather than give my opinion. I want people to like me :) I liked the writing style, but I'm going to have to think about that for a bit before i elaborate...
Pi i didnt know you were blind! You me and peach should make shirts :) I give the book a 4.2 because idid like it alot but it was a little confusing in some areas. I think the author could have been alittle more clear in some parts. I would recommend it and read it again. I think that sometimes i am like miss hale in the way that i can be very easily riled up about some things but then again i am more likely to express displeasure or anger in a passive aggresaive way most o fthe tome. I also find but i am working on not jumping to the worst possible conclusion over someone elses behavior. They both tended to do that.
I didn't want to mention this, but it is kind of funny, I not only needed reading glasses but glasses to see far away. You know, granny glasses!? The kind Mom just had to get. We are friends with the eye Dr., and he was shocked! He's never had anyone so young need bifocals. I only got reading glasses though. If my eyes don't get any better then I'll have to get granny glasses. :\
I'm cool with your pick Jen. G, do what to pick for March? We're not starting the new book until the first of the month right?
Correct. Not till Feb 1. But now you have some time to get your hands on it :) Once I get my copy I'll look through and try to set up some sort of reading schedule. That way we can all be on the same page... ? ... Although I think G and Jenny Lynn are excused from keeping on schedule because really, who has a schedule with a newborn??
I want to see a pic of your Granny glasses :) When it comes to that :D
I think one of the reasons that it could be a little confusing is because there weren't any breaks in the paragraphs when the scene changed or time past.... Did any of you notice that. It was kinda annoying....
Yeah i caught myself having to go back and reread a section. Hmm i will have to give some thought to the march book i cant think of one off the top of my head. Oh pi wow you got the worst of the curse. Have you looked into lasik i dont know what kind of eyesight is considered a good canidate but it wouldnt hurt to ask the doc.
